Hi, my name is Abby Bell, at Independence Fitz You, we strive to provide each individual with opportunities to live meaningful, productive, and fulfilling lives. Community Inclusion Services support individuals in gaining the skills necessary to live safely within their homes and communities. Our life skills coaches will provide encouragement, prompting, and assistance to clients so that they may achieve their goals, including activities of daily living (ADLs). ADLs are person-centered and involve anything that a client considers important and necessary to living a more productive, healthy and independent life. 

Systematic Skill Building (SSB) is a service designed to support individuals in acquiring skills that promote their independence and participation in the greater community. SSB utilizes techniques from Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). These techniques help consumers to acquire and enhance their abilities related to communication, social skills, community participation, relevant vocations and independent living in order to improve the overall quality of life. 

Supportive Employment offers a variety of options including vocational assessments, job  nding, job coaching and extended job-related assistance, all while using a client-centered approach. This approach keeps individuals at the forefront of the decision-making process. Employment not only awards clients the opportunity to be contributing members of their communities, but it also creates a sense of purpose and accomplishment. 

Behavioral Specialist Consulting Services provide support to individuals who may have disruptive or destructive behaviors. These behaviors can create obstacles and hinder opportunities for living safely at home or for active involvement in their communities. With the help of a Behavioral Specialist, consumers use an individualized, comprehensive plan – supporting them, their families and those working with them – in order to gain and utilize skills that improve their independence. 

The Fresh Start Program provides subsidized housing for those with autism and intellectual disabilities who wish to live independently but who do not qualify for home or community supervised care services. The subsidized housing is o  ered based on income and allows our direct support sta  to provide customized life skills training. Sta  will maintain consistent communication with the CEO in  order to optimize outcomes.

Weekly Oversight and Mentorship from an Occupational Therapist (OT) with clinical experience: Independence Fitz You is founded by an OT whose passion is helping consumers achieve their goals and live with independence. Each individual receives weekly visits from the CEO/OT so that she can consult with him/her, the family and the staff in order to build personal relationships and address goal-specific objectives for optimizing progress. Through a large professional network of clinicians from various disciplines (OT/PT/SLP/BS/RN), the CEO can access numerous resources for strategies and guidance in areas of need.
